Quick Review: Clubbing For Haiti

Congratulations to our friends over at Crtl+Alt+Shift, True Tiger and SOME Night, and all who were involved in last night’s UK music fundraiser for the people of Haiti. We knew a good night was ahead from the flyer – which featured just about everyone who’s anyone from the scene – and the fact the queue was gargantuan.
Once inside, after a healthy denomination donation, we noticed The Den was packed to the rafters with lovers of grime, funky, hip hop, dubstep, indie and those who like to give up their time for a good cause.  [read more]

The likes of MistaJam, Scorcher, Donaeo, Ms Dynamite, Dynamo, Ny, Bruza, Twin B, Badness, Wretch 32, Alex Mills, Skepta, Vis, Tinie Tempah, the other Twin B, DJ Target, Master Shortie, Flow Dan, The Thirst and many many more were amongst them. After witnessing another strong set from The Thirst, a dub heavy Seb Chew barrage, before Ruff Sqwad and the man dem let loose in the basement, it was a shame the night had to be cut short (as my bed was calling). Well done to all involved.

Organiser, Crtl+Alt+Shift editor and RWD’s contributing editor, Chantelle Fiddy had nothing but praise for who helped make a great night. “We couldn't have done this without you lot and a massive, massive thanks to all the artists who represented for no fee and the volunteers who donned Ctrl.Alt.Shift t-shirts and shook their buckets like true money makers. There's too many of you to mention, but you know who you are.”
Fiddy also added; “According to security they've not seen a crowd like that since the last rave at The End, before it became The Den - before the doors had even opened at 9pm the queue was backing onto Oxford Street. Having reached capacity by 10.30pm we can all but apologise to those who didn't get in and thank those who waited up to three hours to get in and be a part of this event to rave money for Haiti.”
