Quick Review: Columbia Pictures' Bad Teacher

Released today is, Bad Teacher, the light-hearted, Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segal starring, Jake Kasdan directed comedy which follows the haphazard life of makeshift money-grabbing teacher Elizabeth Halsey. A good cast but is Bad Teacher worth casting your eye on this weekend…

It’s always great to see an actor comprise a role you’ve never seen them in before. In a delightful first, Cameron Diaz plays Elizabeth Halsey, a lustful money-hungry ‘teacher’, who goes out of her way to woo super-rich Scott Delacorte, played by her real life ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. In a series of semi-humorous episodes, Ms Halsey goes to new levels of weird when she tries her best to teach the kids, mentor staff and show off to her potential suitor, Delacorte.

Favourite Scene(s): (May contain spoilers)
We don’t like to give too much away when giving online reviews but ‘the car wash’ scene is a classic. Diaz in short shorts getting her soap on, that’s all we need to say.

When you get to see the “freaky” side of Delacorte it’s very very funny. Let’s just say Justin dry humps the s*** out of a certain someone.

Amy Squirrel (played by Lucy Punch) plays a worthy adversary to Halsey and the two go at each other for the whole film. The culmination of this rivalry is comical; I think you can guess who wins.
Summary:
With Diaz and Timberlake in fine form and Jason Sigel as a worthy supporting actor, Bad Teacher kicks the summer off nicely.
Rating: 3.5/5
