Bible Bashers!!! Bringing Armshouse To My Mum’s House!?!?

I don’t know what it is but those Watchtower/ Awake magazine people scare me to death. They’re trying to bring the “Lord’s Message” to my doorstep… by REPEATEDLY RINGING THE BELL!!! Despite the fact that I was already running late [standard] some unpressable chick also wants to read prayers and hymns to me.

In related news, I Googled Jesus and I found him…

I’ve set myself a mini-mission to be freelancing for Watchtower by the end of 2007. Just imagine a regular grime column, in the UKs Most Thrown Away Publication… bar TOUCH obviously. (Only joking, TOUCH magazine is NOT the UKs most thrown away publication. You’ve got to buy a magazine before you have the ability to throw it away. You guys aren’t in the running for that award either).

If the Editor of Watchtower is reading, I wrote this on the fly (in my limited lunchtime)…

How Gracious is Grime?
Hello my fellow bible bashers welcome to your new and regular fill of what can only be described as beloved UK grime. With the media portraying it as an unholy, no-Godly, hoodie-packed sub-genre, I decided to look into the graciousness of such grimmige.
Believe me, lovers of grime are much like lovers of our Lord. They worship this music as if it were their saviour. They flock to anywhere grime is being broadcasted/ talked about as if it were their church and they read a magazine called RWD as if it were their bible.
The music itself isn’t EXACTLY the Lord’s Prayer but if does have a sociability about it. Big baselines and electronic (computer game-influenced) inserts, underneath earthly lyrics and ‘prayers’ (of somekind), leave the listener complete and warm within.
Followers of this grime music are very relaxed and humble (when NOT listening to their music of choice). This is probably the ONLY side to grime that isn’t gracious. They often perform a dance, known to only them as ‘skanking’ or ‘skanking out’ which is FAR from graceful. Legs move in the opposite direction to arms and visa-versa… head nods, finger movements and jumping are often thrown in to, and I quote, “mix it up.” You may politely clap and sing along to hymns but this simply WON’T do in a grime rave.
So why is grime being persecuted like a certain carpenter millions of years ago? It’s simple; it’s not fully understood yet. And when something’s not understood… it’s nailed to a cross and continually pummelled with rotten fruit. I leave you with words from Peter…

“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” 2 Peter 3:13

CDs to get you into the genre:
Dizzee Rascal – Boy In Da Corner (the genesis of grime: “On the eighth day, he made grime”.)
Wiley – Tunnel Vision Vol.1-3 (with 4-10 commeth)
JME – Editions 1-4 (Shh Hut Yuh Muh is sacred)
True Tiger - Eye of the Tiger Volume 1 (diverse and grimy)
RinseSessions (everyone is on there, pray un to them)

Come on Watchtower you know it makes sense…

Ps – Yes, I get more and more random every week

Are You A Badman?!?!?

With their Rules & Regulations mixtape released at the end of the month, Roll Deep are back, and this time it’s on a more conscious level…

Not content with top 20 chart hits, touring with 50 Cent, Juelz Santana and Snoop Dogg and gathering a fanbase that would make a Premiership football team jealous, the East London grime collective are about to drop their follow up to In At the Deep End. The first track to be taken from Rules & Regulations is Badman, a tale of street life and consequences. A confident Flow Dan tells RWD, “I think its not necessary one message that we tell [on Badman] but we look at the options. We let you know what possibly could happen.”
Produced by industry acclaimed Jake Nava Badman’s another good addition to his impressive CV – which includes work with the likes of Usher, BĂ©yonce, Kelis, Shola Ama, Blue, Jamelia, Tina Turner and Ms Dynamite. With the vid backed by Trident (Stoptheguns.org), it’s good to see lyrical content and positive messages being sent directly to the streets.

Win Doller Da Du$tman's 'I Ain't Come To Beg Friend'!!!

For those that witnessed I Ain’t Come To Beg Friend… Volume 1, you’ll be pleased to know that I Ain’t Come To Beg Friend… Volume 2 is here. Doller Da Du$tman has earned his notoriety working hard on the underground – he’s often been seen at three in the morning with more energy than most, rejuvenating the crowd of a lacklustre dance.
After the Cold Blooded MC sprang onto the scene, with he’s quirky antics and liveliness that would make a cat on a hot tin roof jealous, he hasn’t stopped in his bid to get his green Stan Smith-clad foot in the door. We’ve got our hands on 10 copies of the second coming, I Ain’t Come To Beg Friend… Volume 2.

All you have to do is answer this simple question:
Doller is notorious for saying a certain phrase. In fact it’s written on BOTH of his mixtape covers… Please finish that phrase.

“I ain’t come to beg friend, I’ve come to cause a whole heap of…”

A – Problems
B – Issues
C – Zoop Zoop’s

For a chance to win one of 10 copies send your answer and your full contact details via email (Subject: Doller Comp) to iwannawin@rwdmag.com. Competition closes November 13 2006. For clues and more info check MySpace.com/dollerdadustman
Online review soon come... My Pen is the biggest track so far!!!

The Cure And The Cause

Well done to Mighty Mo on the direction buttons and Richard on the styling.

What Will Demon Do Now???

Demon & Ghetto

I was just watching Lord of the Mics 2 [I know, I'm long but it's been in my bag for the last month or so... very busy] Anyway, with Mercston in jail and Ghetto rolling with The M.O.V.E.M.E.N.T. What is Demon up to? After Bashy deaded him on their clash (well as much as sounded kinda better) where will he go? Demon's World Volume 2?!?!?

...

In all honesty, I don't really care, I just wanted to post this big pic... taken by yours truly. Look at Demon brushing his hair lol.

Junk Mail of the Month: October 'Hurry Up And Become A Man'

Junk emails have had enough of pussy-footing around, they have started to come with a more hardcore/ direct approach.

----------

Subject: Hurry Up And Become A Man

Sick of banging chicks with your small d***?

I bet they are.

If we can't help, no one can.

[The links to the DEADOUT websites have been removed]

========

Can you believe the attitude on these guys?!?!? Someone should take them of the special bus, pull them to one side and tell them that this is not the correct approach. lol at their attempt though.

Quick Review: Saw III

Ok, I only have about 12 seconds so let's do this...

Saw III is sick, its not quite as gorry as the original (obviously) or Saw II. But it has its moments. If you don't throw up, scream or at least put your hands in front of yours eyes, you didn't watch the film I saw (see what I did there?).

Record of the Day (VOTE FOR RWD)

When your busy fingers are free and have stopped updating your MySpace page, we might need them and you…

It’s that time of year again when the industry looks upon, Record of the Day to tell them who’s the best of the best in publishing. Naturally we’re up again as Best Magazine, website (RWDmag.com) AND Editor… the amazing Hattie Collins. Here’s what the Sunday Times’s Dan Carins had to say about Record of the Day… "I'm probably a bit biased as I won one, but I thought it was a really fun evening, amazingly harmonious given the rivalry and fragile egos in the room (mine included!), a long overdue beanfest in recognition of the work everyone involved does, plus a nice and healthy note of competition. I'd definitely go again, award or not, it was a really good chance to meet up with people and have a gossip. Thanks for all your work in organising it, and for your invaluable daily and weekly feeds throughout the year."

Remember you’re not obliged to vote in EVERY category… just the one’s that we’re in (for Hattie Collins and RWD of course). http://www.recordoftheday.com/awards.
