NOT AGAIN: iDJ Magazine follow in Vibe Magazine’s footsteps

Not ones to blow our own trumpet but once again your friendly neighbourhood Urban Music and Fashion Lifestyle magazine has, in our opinion, been catted.

If you can cast your minds back a few months to the middle of 2005 when Vibe Magazine’s Hollywood Issue hit the shelves. Remember, the issue with 50 Cent on the cover looking remarkably similar to our Jan/ Feb 2005 issue, which depicted Kano as his film idol Scarface aka Tony Montana. You know the same issue that former editor Matt Mason showed them months before they did the same thing...

Fast forward a few months and the same fate has been bestowed upon our popular September 2005 issue. The copy had 1Xtra BBC DJs in Del La Soul mode in a tribute to their legendary 3 Feet High & Rising album. After getting permission from Tony Pimlico the original designer of the 1989 LP cover, we feel our ‘3 Years Old and Rising’ cover for the BBC has been… Well… We’re not saying they’ve copied us but…

What do you think??? In reply a member of the iDJ team told us, “Ooops! What can I say except great minds think alike?!”

Fire_Camp: The heat is on

Fire Camp have been cooking up a storm for a while now, scorching the roads with every release. And if you don’t like that heat, get out of their kitchen. Catching up with the 10 resident chefs, RWD got the latest on what’s happening with the collective... Interviews taken from http://www.rwdmag.com

Lethal Bizzle, 23
What do you bring to the Camp?

I’m the driver, the Motivational Man with the business mind.
Tell us about the Fire Camp mix CD Living Legends: Vol. 1?
Basically, it’s a way forward to help promote us, music from our forthcoming album and to make the DJ the star. There are remixes from my album and just crazy stuff with Fire Camp mixed by DJ Twister. It’s a build up to the album, which will be coming out in 2006.
Are there any tracks we should definitely look out for?
If I Didn’t Buss. I made it two years ago - it’s very controversial.
More controversial than The Truth, from your Against All Oddz?
That’s nothing. I don’t want to give too much away, but it basically involves people in the scene, saying if I didn’t buss in music I would be making money off artists still, but in a different kinda way (laughs)!
A few famous bars please...
‘POW! Yeah, I’m Leth-with-the-B,’ ‘Oi, who’s that boy Lethal B,’ ‘Uh oh, Bizzle’s back in town’...
Tell us about Lethal Bizzle Records...
It’s all set up now; the first big project is going to be Fire Camp. I feel a lot of these A&R’s don’t like the music and all these bands are getting successful in rock and indie cos the A&R’s are indie guys - they fully understand the music. I think I can fill that gap with this music.
What do you think of the guy called Lethal Bizzle?
He’s a smart man, with big objectives who is jumping over hurdles. If he does it, I think he’s really gonna make a big statement.

I’m Lethal’s DJ. I play out when Lethal or Fire Camp need me to.
What do you think of Biz?
I haven’t said this to him but... I appreciate what he done for man. If it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t be here. There are plenty of other DJs but he brought me in and safe for that.

Who are you closest to in the Camp?
Ozzie B is my half brother, so I’m close to him. But I’m close to Bizzle as well.
Why should we look out for Knowledge?
Cos he brings a lot to the Fire Camp table. Knowledge is Knowledge innit.

Myself and 2Face are really creative. Really and truly, for a while it was starting to get old. We always try and progress.
Give us some reload bars...
‘Blown Away’ is one of my main ones and ‘Do what we want/ Ok’ and ‘Chat my name if you dare’...
What do you REALLY think of Bizzle?
He’s cool. He’s doing his thing. Obviously we’re all different people and there are certain things I would have done differently if I was in his position but the way he’s doing things and being successful right now, he’s doin’ well and I’m supporting him all the way, get me.

Boy, I’d have to say Ozzie, that’s my family, he’s my cousin. But most closest friend-wise is Knowledge.
Can you give us any light on the Fire Camp album?

What tracks should we look out for on Living Legends?
I’ve done a rap and garage thing.
A few famous bars please?
‘You’re barking up the wrong tree, the spotlight’s on me’, ‘Wha-va-got, wha-va-got, think that you’re ho-va-got, na but you’re not’ and ‘Who is he? I’m Fumin...’ get me.
What do you really think of Bizzle?
Of Bizzle? He’s talented man. He’s headed in the right direction, he’s opened doors and is doin’ well. He’s a good example to us cos he’s got his head screwed on.
What’s ‘06 gonna be saying for Fumes?
I’ve just finished my World War 1 mix CD, which has got a big buzz about it, so look out for 2 and 3. Also look out for Freckle Face 1/ 2.

What do you really think of Bizzle?
Bizzle’s mooooovin’, 100%! He’s moving the scene forward, not just the Fire Camp but he’s building the whole scene up.
Tell us about these fresh Fire Camp tracksuits?
Yeah, big up adidas, they done it live. I won’t be wearing it on road too much, cos it’s a bit mad, but for shoots, it’s cool.

Funny Quote of the Day (Thursday)

Jon Stewart - I've been to Canada, and I've always gotten the impression that I could take the country over in about two days.

^^^ Jokes, me too.
